Lamborghini Countach

The only supercar scale model that I had when I was a child was a black Lamborghini Countach with a red interior and an opening engine cover. Its scale was around 1:64. I don’t remember what toy brand it was; it probably didn’t have the brand name on it. I wanted to take a picture of it for this blog post, but for some reason I couldn’t find it.

The Hot Wheels Lamborghini Countach Pace Car shown above is in white; I blogged about a red version before.

I’m not really a big fan of the Hot Wheels Lamborghini Countach (‘Tooned) shown above. I’ll probably sell it soon.

I do like the Tomica Lamborghini Countach LP400 shown here.

All the wheels have “suspension.”

It’s a Tomica Event Model and I bought it for around 500 pesos.

Its engine cover opens wider than my childhood toy’s engine cover did.

The scale is 1:61, its copyright year is 2010, and it’s made in Vietnam.

    1. The Tomica’s painted details are better than those of the Hot Wheels, but, of course, the Tomica is more than four times the price. I like that the Tomica has shiny black paint for the numbers and letters and matte black paint for the other details. The Lamborghini logo on the hood also has some nice detail: a blob of silver (for the bull) on a black shield. What I like most about the Tomica is that it’s out of the packaging; I can (very carefully) play with it.

As for my childhood toy, I suspect that it was thrown away when my parents moved out of our old house.

  1. Good to see you posting about diecast cars again, Joel, it has been a while. Like you I am no fan of the Toon’d Countach but I have the pace car in red and white. A black Countach with red interior don’t know that model. Matchbox had a yellow one with opening engine hatch, which later got the streaker treatment on a red body.

    1. After I made this blog post, I got a black Hot Wheels Lamborghini Countach “police car.” It’s called a police car and it looks like a police car but the bottom states that it’s the pace car.

      1. I have the pace car version in red and white, haven’t seen the police car on the pegs here. I have the ’71 Porsche 911″Polizei” but the base has the same information as the ’71 Porsche 911 in rally colours, and unlike the pace car it has no light bar on the roof.
